In a word...WOW.  Yesterday I had AT&T U-Verse installed at my house.  My installation was the U-400 TV and Elite High-Speed Internet package.  This product is amazing.  I must say when the installer said, "I am running the Coax cable to the office for the gateway, then CAT- 5 to the TV", I was gitty.

Microsoft has done a great job to make this service feel like Windows Media Center as the UI is the same blue bubble look.  It is a little harder to get used to the channel structure as you get a million (or close to) SD channels (range 0 - 800) and about 25 HD channels (range 1000+).

One thing the rep who came to the house after the installer had the DVR hooked up let us know is that even though the service seems full featured, there are more features that will be coming out this year.  Features like integration with My.yahoo.com for pictures, whole house DVR, and much more.  Currently the package will get you 2 standard units (with HD support) and one DVR box (with HD support/recording).  Using the DVR, you can record 3 SD channels, or 1 HD and 2 SD, and watch another channel at the same time.  This is very nice, but I hope more HD recordings at the same time will be a future feature as I am addicted to 720p/1080i.

The best feature about the whole package is with phone/internet/tv, I am saving $20/mn vs my old AT&T DSL and Dish Network setup.  Got to love more channels, more features, and less money.  You have to check out this package!

Hey Jeff,

Please take a look at the Red Dog software and let me know what you think. Though it seems your community is reliant on complex "open source" web presence solutions to keep some of those web developers in business the Red Dog software may be the best solution in many instances.

I've looked at it from my angle. What's it look like from yours?

Sounds like a sweet deal, Jeff!

Do they allow, or is there a way to use a Media Center PC (Vista Ultimate Rocks!) instead of their PVR? It sounds to me like a Media Center and XBOX 360s around the house would be the perfect DVR-with-remotes solution. But I may be a bit biased.

PS - You gonna be at TechEd this year? Hope to see you there!
