I was getting caught up on my RSS feeds after PDC today and I ran across this Engadget article. I then thought, hey that photo looks familiar. Oh I know why, because I took it! Technorati Tags: PDC08,Photography...
It has been surprising to talk to the attendees of the PDC about blogging and participation in communities. Most don’t seem to have blogs, but have lots of things to talk about. Most like the concept of Geekswithblogs.net after reading our bag insert and we have had a lot of registrations. But, there are a number of them who just want to read the blogs and we are completely ok with that. Our goal out here has been to register more bloggers who are interested in these new technologies Microsoft is...
We still have a handful of shirts here for the attendees of PDC who requested them. We are in booth 100 on the edge by the Channel 9 area so swing by
Ok, we are getting desperate here because we only have 2.5 working days before PDC left and 3 videos. I have a lot of “I will get you …” but only a few uploads, so if you are planning on participating, can you get us those videos soon? Thanks and hope you like the new site as well :D. Wow, that took a long time but it is finally ready. This morning I released the Geekswithblogs.net 3.0 will all the new features we could finish before PDC 2008. This is definitely not the end of 3.0 features, but it needed to get out the door. The first change you will notice is the GREEN MONSTER has been replaced. This theme has been in the works since the springtime as most of you with shirts know. Keep an eye on this blog and the tutorials section of the site throughout this week so you can learn...
We need your help! So far we have one video for the PDC commercial we are producing and I don’t think that will deliver the whole message we want. In case you don’t know what I am talking about, review Jerod’s post or the 2 GWB newsletters that were sent out over the past few weeks. The main purpose is to show that we are a diverse group from all around the world. We want to see what your world looks like. Indoors and Outside. Your a geek and this is your life, show us. If you are planning to get...
Today is the official five year anniversary of the first post on Geekswithblogs.net. Happy Birthday!!! We will be celebrating our 5 years with the launch of a new version of the community portion of the site. We will also be at HDC Omaha and PDC 2008 celebrating the launch and 5th anniversary. These events will be awesome and at the PDC, we are excited that Chris and D’Arcy are able to join us. As far as the site goes, we are so close to being finished. I took off last week to dedicate my morning,...
With the PDC right around the corner, my wife and I decided I needed a better place to work from home so I could get my mind focused and get the next version of the site cranked out. This meant I was able to move into the "play room" and take over the portion of the basement where the exercise equipment resided. No, that doesn't not mean I have given up on working out, I would just rather use the gym's equipment as it is nicer quality. In fact, I just took my fitness age test and am now 46 (compared...
As Chris mentioned earlier, Geekswithblogs.net will have an official presence this year at the PDC. We will be a Silver Media Sponsor and will have a booth for registering members and teaching people about blogging. To keep the buzz going at the event while we are in the booth, we have invited Chris Williams and D'arcy Lussier to help us out. They are going to be an amazing addition to our onsite team. Thanks for taking us up on our offer guys! Jerod will be sending a newsletter out this week to...
All you subscribers come and get it…Office 2007 RTM is available for download. This post is coming from Word 2007 and the new blogger feature. I haven't smiled this much for software since PDC 2003 and when we got the first bits of Longhorn (Vista)
Wow, all I can say is that event was amazing. I missed the PDC to aggregate PDCBloggers due to the amount of registered bloggers we had this year, so I was hoping to get some of that information at the Summit. Luckily I did and a bit more. I can't go into too much detail, but I can say one day the XML MVPs had a private meeting with Anders in a small conference room with 6 MVPs and a few product team members. That was very cool. Just like TechEd, John and I will be the aggregators for PDCBloggers this time around. The numbers of registered bloggers is outstanding this year, over 500 and climbing. To let you in on what it takes to run the site, during the event, John and I have split the list in half by name and will have about 200 - 300 posts to read every 2 hours. Much over these post will be about the PDC, so we will be going through a process of elimination to decide what has been covered and then finding qoutes to pull...
First off, I am sorry I pulled Jason to the front of the class with my previous entry; I was just trying to make a point. As far as the main feed goes, this has been under review for some time because we know a lot of good information comes out of this site and feel it could be filtered better than we have done with one feed. We still want to offer the non-”Greatest Hits” feed, so you will still be able to get all the content from this community, but with our growth into other realms...
Irwin Dolobowsky has recently taken over the XML Developer Center at MSDN with many promises of a new center for XML developers. During his self admitting 2 or 3 "first post" entry, he states a few items he is going to do to make the dev center better. This post took place a month ago, and here are some results. Bring out the MVP's - Being one of the few MVP's in the area of XML, I can say that I have not been contacted on this front. I am guessing the functionality is there for this, since the other...
