I have always been a fan of Google Reader. I have been using it since it first came out and have never tried another feed reader. Yesterday they decided to update the UI to fit their new G+ look and in my opinion, made the application almost impossible to use. I have three main machines I use on a daily basis. A Dell XPS desktop with dual 24 inch monitors, a Toshiba Protégé with a 13 inch display, and a 11 inch MacBook Air. When I am at my desk all day, the Dell is awesome for getting development...

The C# Programming Language, Fourth Edition by Anders Hejlsberg, Mads Torgersen, Scott Wiltamuth, and Peter Golde Publisher: Addison Wesley (Special Annotated Edition for C# 4.0) I can honestly say I have had a copy of this book for each edition it was published. I love this book and have always loved it. Ever since Microsoft stopped publishing the White Reference Guides we used to all have back in the day, Addison Wesley has became my reference book dealer. These White cover books with the most...

Here is the list of Zone ID’s for the Blank WebPart Page (BlankWebPartPage.aspx") that is part of the Publishing Portal with MOSS 2007: TitleBar Header TopLeftRow TopRightRow CenterLeftColumn CenterColumn CenterRightColumn Footer RightColumn I was in need of these and wasn’t able to find them with a simple search on Google so I wanted to share them with you. To get a list of WebPartZone objects for a page that a webpart lives on can be done with the following code: foreach (WebPartZone zone in this.WebPartManager.Zones)...

We track statistics and demographics for Geekswithblogs.net using Google Analytics and I am very impressed with this product. However, due to the nature of our blog system, several bloggers want to track their information independently as well. To make this happen, I used a modification to the original Urchin code Google offered, but that recently quit working as they upgraded the codes they offer. So the upgrade of codes will most likely cause you to upgrade your code. Here are the steps to do it:...

Recently we started using Google Analytics to drive our global site statistics for GWB, however during that time, many members told me their Google Analytics statistics stopped working. Friday evening, I put in a fix that should make the multiple site (_uff = 0; in Analytics Script). Let me know if your Google Analytics is still acting up and we will debug from there. Technorati tags: Google Analytics...

Lately, I have started using Google Reader for my feeds when Outlook 2007 decided it didn't want to read my feeds anymore and I started missing valuable content. I absolutely love the interface of Google Reader, it is very fast a with the HotKeys, it feels like a desktop application. However, the add subscriptions functionality is less than desirable. Inside IE it will freeze up quite often and just sit there bubbling green goo out of the beaker. To get around this issue, I created a IE Search Provider...

We are going to try something new with the .NET User Group in Kansas City. We want to see how the local community will be assisted with a local-only newsgroup for members. With this, I have started a newsgroup @ Google Groups for the User Group. If you are local to Kansas City, come join and help us test this theory out

Last night, John and I had sushi with Scoble and had a great conversation. The dinner took place right in the middle of his brrreeeport experiment, which is a word he made up and was not on Google or MSN to see how quick the engines (Technorati, Google, etc.) would pick up on it. Living in the midwest we don't have the best sushi, so anytime I can get to the west coast, I have to go get some. This was my first experience at "I Love Sushi” in Bellevue and I have to say it was very good. Tags:...
